Tuesday, March 2 brought many celebrations to Oakton ES. Our primary classrooms rang in the 100th day of school with counting activities, games, and songs. We also paid tribute to Dr. Seuss’ Birthday and Read Across America Day!
Oakton Odyssey of the Mind students performed for us on Thursday. Odyssey of the Mind is a before/after school club that provides creative problem solving opportunities for children. Our groups are led by Mr. Goehrke, Mrs. Potemra, and many wonderful parent volunteers. Students are challenged with open-ended problems. They learn how to solve these problems in creative and abstract ways. Mr. Goehrke says, “The most important part of Odyssey is that the kids do 100% of the work themselves, which makes it pretty unique.”
We wish our teams the best of luck in tomorrow’s competition! We know that they will represent Oakton ES well and will make us proud. GO PANTHERS!
