Coats for Kids Campaign

“It is not what we get, but who we become, what we contribute…that gives meaning to our lives.”

–Anthony Robbins

Our Oakton community knows the true meaning of giving.  Through the generous donations of our students and families, the OES Character Education students purchased 53 brand new coats for homeless children.  They also purchased food and supplies for The Lamb Center, an organization that provides food and support to homeless individuals and families in Fairfax.

Thank you to Kohl’s in Fair Oaks!  Kohl’s provided us with an additional 30% off and were so helpful and accommodating as we searched for the warmest and most stylish coats in stock.  Also, many thanks go to Mrs. Marshall, our Character Education school sponsor and to the parents who helped us with this monumental task!  It was a meaningful and emotional day for all of us as we reflected on how fortunate we truly are and the difference we can make in the lives of others when we pull together.

Oakton Elementary would also like to express our sincere gratitude to TIAA-CREF.  Their local office donated school supplies for students in our school who are not able to afford to purchase them.  We are so grateful for the generous nature of our greater school community and for their help in meeting the needs of all our students.
